Sybil Van Veldhuizen, 56, of rural Inwood, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 1991, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. John den Hoed officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Van Veldhuizen, the former Sybil Vander Boon, was born Dec. 19, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the daughter of John and Mary (Vander Waal) Vander Boon. She moved with her family to Iowa in November 1949. She married Cornie Van Veldhuizen Sept. 22, 1954, in Rock Valley. The couple farmed near Inwood.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Arnold of Larchwood and Charles of Rock Valley; eight daughters, Mrs. Dave (Corinne) Spaans of Orange City, Mrs. Gerrit (Joyce) Bakker and Marlene Van Veldhuizen, both of Inwood, Mrs. Roger (Audrey) Solberg of Worthington, Minn., Mrs. Evan (Rhonda) LeLoux of Rock Valley, Sheila Van Veldhuizen and Kristi Van Veldhuizen, both at home, and Mrs. Loren (Phyllis) Blankespoor of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three brothers, Orie Vander Boon, John Vander Boon and Abe Vander Boon, all of Ada, Mich.; six sisters, Mrs. Henry (Pauline) Groen of Hospers, Mrs. Adrian (Lena) Van Ravenswaay of Sioux Center, Mrs. Fred (Ann) Vlastuin of Doon, Mrs. Gerrit (Marie) Rozeboom of Ada, Mich., Mrs. Teunis (Adriana) Rozeboom of Case Grande, Ariz., and Mrs. Cornie (Connie) Boon of Pierson, Mich.; and 20 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Cornelius; a sister, Sarah Key; and an infant sister, Johanna.
